WHAT IS OSASUNBERRI?
We strengthen our health industry to protect people
Over the last few years and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have learned the importance of having a strong healthcare industry that allows us not to depend on suppliers from other countries to provide medical and health products in an agile and immediate manner.
The main objective of the OSASUNBERRI project is to build a close, efficient and comprehensive health sector, based on the km 0 philosophy, and to develop an advanced healthcare system in our community.
OSASUNBERRI aims to strengthen the health system in order to be prepared for the challenges of the future and to have its own resources with which to face these challenges.
That is why, since 2020, a consortium of 27 entities has come together to revitalise the health sector, working collaboratively to overcome the limitations of tackling challenges individually, become more competitive, develop new products and services, and create wealth and jobs around this important sector.
What projects are we developing?
4 areas of action with a common goal:
protecting our Health
It pursues the development of different diagnostic systems through R&D platforms for the development of technological solutions and competitive manufacturing capabilities.
It addresses the application of different therapies and focuses on the implementation of R&D capabilities needed for the development of pharmaceutical drugs, microbiologicals, as well as the development of cellular or rehabilitative therapies.
To implement smart and sustainable post-covid pilot spaces by increasing the level of digitalization of healthcare and fostering different innovation platforms.
It monitors competitive trends, intellectual property protection, eco-design and digitalized systems integration.

Investing in health is the best bet for the future.
The health sector was already a sector with significant growth, but it has been catapulted by the pandemic. Overall, investment in health and wellness in Spain increased by 84.3% in 2020 to over one hundred million euros.

In a globalised and interconnected world,
everything happens at great speed.
One thing we have seen with the last pandemic is that it has spread unusually fast and without the time needed to deal with it.
By investing in our own healthcare industry, we can be better prepared for future challenges and underpin R&D strategies that contribute to strengthening the 0 km healthcare value chain. It will also increase competitiveness and growth, and most importantly, we will live with greater peace of mind and confidence.

WHO MAKE UP OSASUNBERRI?
Commitment to development
The collaborative initiative brings together 17 companies, of which 15 are SMEs and 2 are large pharmaceutical corporations, 5 health care institutions, 3 scientific-technological entities and 2 sectoral associations.
The 27 participating entities contribute their capabilities in research and technological development, industrial design, manufacturing, certification, intellectual protection, technological surveillance, promotion and dissemination to achieve a viable and efficient solution for situations of maximum social interest such as the current one.
